The Highest Paid Presidents in Africa.
According to reports, Cameroonian president Paul Biya is the highest paid head of state in Africa with a monthly salary of $52,500. Mr Biya has been in office for three and a half decades.. Making hum the second longest serving president in Africa.
Despite the fact that Kenyan economy is bigger than Cameroon’s, Biya’s annual salary is almost five times that of Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta’s salary.
Second on the list is Mohammed VI of Morocco, he earns a whopping $37,500 Monthly.
Majority of the presidents below are entitled to hundreds of thousands of dollars annually, not to mention the piles of financial privileges and benefits they are entitled to. It’s no wonder many of them will do anything to get and retain the seat of power… Below are highest paid African presidents.

Cameroon’s President Paul Biya is the highest paid president in Africa… Biya is believed to earn around $610,000 per annum which is higher than what every other African president earn.
When compared to the salary of an average Cameroonian earns, the leader’s annual income is about 229 times more than the average salary.
Biya is currently the second longest ruling president in Africa.
2. Mohammed VI of Morocco
Country: Morocco
Salary: $37,500 Monthly
According to reports, Mohammed VI earns around 68 times more than an average Moroccan citizen. His yearly salary is $450,000. And he is the second highest paid president in Africa and also the richest president in Africa.
3. President Cyril Ramaphosa

Salary: $21,062 Monthly
South Africa’s new president Cyril Ramaphosa earns a salary of $252,700 annually making him one of the highest paid leaders in Africa.
A huge percentage of his salary goes to charity though. Ramaphosa publicly declared in South Africa on 24 May 2018 that he would be donating half of his salary to charity in honour of late former South African president Nelson Mandela. He said the gesture was aimed at encouraging the wealthy to dedicate some of their pay to help build the nation. The donation was set to be managed by the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF)..
4. President Abdelaziz Bouteflika

Salary: $13,666 Monthly
President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria is estimated to earn an annual salary of more than $160,000, he is currently the fourth highest paid president in Africa.
Bouteflika, who has been in power since 1999 is largely hailed for ending years of civil war in the North African nation and doing away with the emergency rule in 2011 during the deadly Arab Spring.
5. President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo

Salary: $11,666 Monthly
Dubbed “the world’s worst dictators”, by American journalist Peter Maass, Teodoro, has been the leader of the country since 1979 when he ousted his uncle, Francisco Macías Nguema, in a military coup.

Salary: $11,000 Monthly
In 2014, President Kenyatta accepted a pay cut that reduced his basic monthly salary from $14,000 to $11,000.. And even with the cut he is still among the highest paid Presidents in Africa.
President Kenyatta, who is currently serving his second and final term, assumed office in 2013.
7. President Azali Assoumani
Country: Comoros
Salary: $9,250 Monthly
The President of Comoros, Azali Assounani Earns around $111,000 every year. He is currently the eighth highest paid African president.
Assoumani has been the president of Comoros (one of the smallest country in Africa) since 2016. Previously he was President from 1999 to 2002 and again from 2002 to 2006.
Assoumani first came to power in 1999 after ousting acting President Tadjidine Ben Said Massounde in a coup.
8. President Joseph Kabila

Salary: $9,166 Monthly
Having assumed office in 2001, the Congolese (Rep) President Joseph Kabila, who In August 2018, announced that he will step down and not seek reelection in the December 2018 general election, is one of the highest paid African Presidents. His current annual salary stands at appr $9,200 per month, with loads of other financial privileges.
9. President Hage Geingob

Salary: $9,166 Monthly
In 2015 president Hage Geingob claimed he didn’t know how much his salary was, amid claims that he was overpaid.
Then in 2016, he made a u turn and promised to release details of his salary, to the public. Although till today he hasn’t revealed how much he is paid, there are claims that he earns more than a $100,000 annually.
Hage Geingoba has been in office since 21 March 2015, he is the third and the current President of Namibia.
