Johnnie Walker Ghana has celebrated Survaiva Benjamin Donkor, the winner of the Black Label Global Bartender Challenge for the Africa Region. Survaiva, a Senior Bartender at Tribeca Restaurant in Accra, will represent Ghana in Scotland during the Burns Night weekend in January 2025, the home of Johnnie Walker.
Survaiva’s winning cocktail, named The Black Secret, masterfully combines Johnnie Walker Black Label with fresh lemon juice, activated charcoal syrup, crème de cassis, coconut liqueur, and fresh pineapple juice. This innovative blend showcases his exceptional skill, resilience, and creativity in the craft of mixology.
The Black Label Global Bartender Challenge is designed to highlight the exceptional qualities of Johnnie Walker Black Label and to honor those in the bartending community who passionately support this award-winning blended Scotch whisky. Survaiva’s victory in the Africa region underscores his dedication and the vibrant cocktail culture in Ghana.
Yaa Amoah, Marketing Manager for Spirits and RTDs at Guinness Ghana, emphasized the importance of Survaiva’s achievement. “Winning the challenge for the Africa region is truly worth celebrating.
The Johnnie Walker Black Label Global Bartender Challenge provides a platform for bartenders to showcase their craft with their own signature cocktails. Survaiva is the only African among seven other winners worldwide. He has demonstrated what it means to ‘Keep Walking.’”
With this life-changing experience, Johnnie Walker remains committed to building the capacity of bartenders through the Diageo Bar Academy and other initiatives in Ghana. We raise a glass to Survaiva and his remarkable win for Ghana.

ABOUT JOHNNIE WALKER
Johnnie Walker Black Label was first created over 100 years ago by the Walker family who were not content with the one-note flavours and inconsistent whiskies of their day. They took bold steps to make a significantly better Scotch Whisky – expertly blended to create the rich, iconic flavour that is still made today. Johnnie Walker Black Label takes the very best whiskies from the Four Corners of Scotland, each expressing the aromas and tastes typical of that region, to create a beautifully balanced liquid celebrated worldwide.
