At least three roasters in the upcoming Comedy Central Roast of Khanyi Mbau have been confirmed.
Thus far, comedian and actor Celeste Ntuli, radio personal Selbeyonce Mkhize, and award-winning investigative journalist and media personality Devi Sankaree Govender have been confirmed to be part of the roasting panel.
The roast-master will be a comedian and actor Mpho Popps. The Comedy Central Roast of Khanyi Mbau, Africa’s first female roastee, will premiere on Comedy Central (DStv 122) and Showmax in August.
Taking to social media, Mpho Popps said: “I don’t promise to keep them in line.” He also apologised to the Young, Famous, and African star.
Reacting to the panel, the The Wife actor said Ntuli is brutal but nice. “She’s a brutal fruit.”
About Mkhize, Mbau said: “I don’t know. Let’s postpone until next year when we get celebrities.” In a shocked tone, she also asked if Sankaree Govender was still alive and continued to laugh.
Last month, she said the roast was a perfect extension of all she had brought to the entertainment industry over the years.
Mbau also told Channel24 that while she was not looking forward to seeing anyone in particular, she hoped Somizi and Pearl Thusi would not show up.
“I see no one. Whoever dares to be there, welcome… I know he has had his own but, Somizi, it would be a pity party because I know he is pissed off and not talking to me for some odd reason,” she said. “I wouldn’t like to see Pearl Thusi because she doesn’t take jokes nicely.”
