Jadakiss Says Kanye West Isn’t as “Awesome” as He Used to Be

Jadakiss has shared his thoughts on Kanye West’s evolution, saying that for many years he was “awesome” — but now, not so much.

During a recent interview on The Adam Friedland Show, The LOX rapper was asked if he was familiar with Kanye and JAY-Z’s hit song “Brothers In Paris,” which was Friedland’s clever way of avoiding saying the real title, “N-ggas In Paris.”

Jada replied by saying that “it was a good song.”

From there, the hysterical host asked the Yonkers native how Kanye is doing these days, which prompted him to confess that he’s dealt with multiple versions of the multi-hyphenate creative over the years — and the most recent iterations aren’t all that fun to be around.

“I’ve met like five or six different Kanye’s,” Kiss said. “The first four was awesome. The last two was a little bit…”

Jadakiss and Kanye West are no strangers having worked together numerous times over the years. The pair first linked up on “Gettin It In,” from Jada’s 2004 album Kiss of Death, before reuniting on G.O.O.D. Music’s remix of Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like” in 2012.

Their most recent collaboration came in 2021 when Jadakiss appeared on the Donda track “Jesus Lord Pt. 2” alongside Jay Electronica, Swizz Beatz and his LOX brethren Styles P and Sheek Louch.

The heavyweight song was a seemingly impromptu addition to the album, with Jada and co. flying to Atlanta to meet Ye at his makeshift HQ at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium following their famous Verzuz victory over Dipset at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

“Someone from Ye’s camp actually reached out to my older son,” Jada told HipHopDX of the song’s creation. “Then Ye called us the next day after Verzuz, he hit me the next morning. We flew straight there and went straight to the studio and knocked the song out.”

He added: “It was ill. It was a different experience for us, but it was super dope.”

Although Jadakiss isn’t a particularly big fan of current-day Kanye West, he did come to the Yeezy mogul’s defense amid the widespread backlash to his antisemitic comments last year.

While many companies and individuals cut ties with him during that time, Kiss told TMZ that he has faith there’s a Yeezy comeback later in the storyline.

“Everybody need to pray for Kanye and let the Lord work it out. He’ll be alright,” he offered. “I’m always for the artists. Some say and do dumb stuff, but I’m always for the artist.”

When asked about whether he believed Ye could redeem himself, Jada replied: “Definitely. They build you up to kick you back down to build you up again.”

However, the Yonkers native also made sure to add that he thinks Kanye should continue to apologize to those he offended.
