LeBron James has unleashed his inner beast by quoting JAY-Z lyrics after his Lakers beat the Memphis Grizzlies and eliminated from the NBA Playoffs.
On Saturday (April 29), the 4-time NBA Champion took to Twitter to borrow a few lyrics from fellow peer and trusted confidant JAY-Z’s song “Trouble” from his 2006 comeback album Kingdom Come.
“Unlike you, lil’ nigga, I’m a grown-ass man/Big shoes to fill, nigga, grown-ass pants/Probably hustled with your pops, go ask your parents/It’s apparent you’re staring at a legend who/Put a few lil’ niggas in their place before/Tryna eat without saying their grace before,” Hov raps over the Dr. Dre production.
At the time, JAY-Z was coming out of retirement after previously releasing his “last album” The Black Album in 2003. He was in his mid-30s and had to remind the rap game that he still had it. The same can be said for LeBron James after Dillion Brooks of the Memphis Grizzlies previously called LeBron “old” and wished he played against a younger version of the legendary player.

LeBron also posted a few pictures and a video montage on Instagram on Saturday (April 29). In the post, he made a reverse dunk during Game 6 and captioned it by saying, “If you ever see me fighting in the forest with a Grizzly bear, HELP THE BEAR [crown emoji].”
The famous phrase came from Mystikal’s 2011 “On Da Spot” freestyle while being interviewed by Hip Hop Nation.
The Lakers beat the Memphis Grizzlies 125-85 on Friday (April 28) to advance to the second round of the NBA Playoffs.
LeBron James previously received his flowers from JAY-Z in a video tribute that aired ahead of the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. After passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the league’s all-time scorer earlier that month, Hov recognized his high level of performance over the course of his 20-year career.
“Being able to perform at a high level for a long period of time, you know, that’s excellence,” he said. “Long after you’ve gone, people, they’re looking at your name. That’s what greatness is. There’s not many you can compare LeBron to. 19-time All-Star, a remarkable feat. The all-time scorer, all-time. I mean, what can you say?
“I’ve known LeBron since he was in high school. There was a lot of talk about how amazing he was. We were convinced this guy was super special. He’s been through plenty iterations of the game, and each era, he’s been the best. The chosen one, that’s it.”
