In February 2022, veteran radio and TV presenter Mark Pilgrim was diagnosed with cancer for the second time.

“This time, stage 4 lung cancer, which also metastasised and went to my femur, the base of my spine, and my lymph nodes,” Pilgrim revealed in a YouTube video published in June.

The video, titled My Cancer Journey: Part 1 – Intro, is the first vlog shared as part of Pilgrim’s efforts to share his experience since his February diagnosis and his treatments started in March.

“This section of my Youtube channel is for anyone who is going through cancer or is supporting someone who is. It documents my journey and desire to find positivity,” reads the description of the vlog playlist.

“I chat about the various pillars of approach I use in overcoming the disease, from my ‘green juice’ in the mornings to how I’m starving the cancer inside me. I also chat about integrative therapies I’m doing in addition to chemotherapy and immunotherapy.”

Pilgrim has shared five videos to date, each discussing a different element of his journey while also sharing updates on his health along the way.

In his most recent vlog, titled My Cancer Journey: Part 5 – Integrative Treatments, the radio star discusses treatments he is doing “in addition to conventional chemotherapy and immunotherapy to possibly increase [his] chances of healing”.

Pilgrim on Wednesday shared a photo of himself receiving his sixth round of chemotherapy, which he has dubbed “healing juice”.

“As I sit in the chair getting round 6 of the ‘healing juice’, I’m visualizing harmony and balance in the body,” he captioned the post.

The father of two was diagnosed and beat aggressive Stage 3 testicular cancer in 1988. In 2008 he suffered a severe heart attack at the doctor’s office that caused permanent heart damage. In 2021, Pilgrim overcame a battle with Covid-19 pneumonia.

He was again diagnosed with the coronavirus in June 2022 but recovered “a million times easier” after isolating for two weeks.
