Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo will be taking “time off” from the reality TV competition show, following allegations made against him by his estranged husband, Mohale Motaung.
In a shocking audio interview obtained by Sunday World, the Rockville actor accused Somizi of physical abuse.
In light of the explosive allegations, on Wednesday, Somizi said that he would taking a leave of absence from Metro FM.
On Friday, M-Net released a statement to Media Outlet, saying: “M-Net and Somizi Mhlongo met to discuss his role on Idols in light of the allegations made against him. We have reached a mutual agreement that Somizi Mhlongo will take some time off to deal with his personal circumstances until this matter has been resolved.”
Since current episodes are pre-recorded by [SIC] Entertainment production company, Somizi will continue to appear on the 17th season until 22 August.
“Viewers will still see Somizi Mhlongo on their screens until Sunday 22 August 2021, as the audition shows for Idols were pre-recorded,” said M-Net.
