A foreign professional player will now join the home-based players of the Super Eagles team that will take on El tri of Mexico in an international friendly on July 4 .

Tottenham’s U-23 goalkeeper Joshua Olayemi has been called up to Nigeria’s squad for the friendly clash to replace the injured team captain Ikechukwu Ezenwa in the squad.

His invitation means he’s the only foreign-based player in the team as the rest of the team play their football in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

20-year-old Olayemi was born in England to Nigerian parents, which makes him eligible for the three-time African Champions.

He came through the Tottenham Academy, having played for the youth team and U18 side.

He is currently Spurs U23 goalkeeper.

He was on loan at National League side Maidenhead United between October 2020 and January 2021.
