Denmark Launches New Working Holiday Quota for Chileans and Argentinians Starting September 1

Denmark’s authorities have announced that a new Working Holiday quota period will begin for nationals of Chile and Argentina from September 1, 2024.

Through a statement, The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI)

has announced that appointments will be opened on VFS Buenos Aires, Argentina and VFS Santiago and Chile, from September 2, 9 am local time, Schengen.News reports.

The same emphasises that the Working Holiday programme for nationals of Chile and Argentina has an annual quota of 150 Working Holiday residence permits.

A quota year runs from March of a respective year up to and including February of the following year.

From March up to and including August (first quota period), SIRI can issue residence permits corresponding to half of the annual quota (up to 75), and from September up to and including February (second quota period), SIRI can issue the remaining part of the quota (up to 150). The allocation of permits takes place on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once the quota of up to 150 residence permits under the Working Holiday programme for nationals of Chile and Argentina has been used, no more residence permits will be issued until March 1, 2025, when the next quota year begins.

As the second quota period this year opens on Sunday,  September 1, you should be aware that not until Monday,  September 2, 9:00 local time (UTC -4) will it be possible to book an appointment at VFS in Buenos Aires, Argentina and VFS Santiago, Chile via their online booking systems.

Denmark Issued Up to 75 Residence Permits Each for Nationals of Chile & Argentina This Year

In February this year, authorities in Denmark announced that the country would issue up to 75 residence permits for nationals of Chile and Argentina from March 1 until August 31, 2024.

The decision came as part of Denmark’s decision to open its Working Holiday quota period for nationals of both countries from March 1, 2024, as confirmed through a statement by the SIRI.

Back then, SIRI announced that once the quota of 75 residence permits under the Working Holiday scheme for nationals of both countries was fully used, no more residence permits would be issued until September 1, 2024, when the next quota is set to start.

Through the Working Holiday scheme, internationals are eligible to travel and work in Denmark for up to one year. The main reason for an international stay should be a holiday, and the second reason could be working to supplement travel funds.
