Spanish destination Huesca La Magia won the title of “Europe’s Best Adventure Tourism Destination 2023” at the World Travel Awards beating out 12 other nominees for the award.
The award was presented at the 30th edition of the World Travel Awards, also known as the Oscars of Tourism, taking place in Batumi, Georgia, on Friday, September 29, 2023.
The World Travel Awards attracted nominees from some of Europe’s most breathtaking destinations, including Austria, the Azores Islands, England, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, the Madeira Islands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, and Wales. Leading up to this event, the Azores Islands had held onto this title for the past three years.
During the gala ceremony, the President of the Huesca Provincial Council Isaac Claver, accepted the award.
Claver views this award as a major achievement and a point of pride for Huesca. He emphasises that the award benefits the 300-plus companies and independent professionals involved in adventure tourism in Huesca.

Huesca La Magia’s win reflects its exceptional appeal as a destination. Nestled within the province are some of Mother Nature’s most magnificent creations. To the north, the Pyrenees mountains offer a stunning backdrop, drawing both winter sports enthusiasts and summertime hikers, making it ideal for skiing in the winter and hiking in the warmer months.
Among the region’s treasures is the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that enchants tourists with its views.
While Huesca is known for its beautiful landscapes, it is also a haven for adventure enthusiasts. In addition to hiking, there are plenty of exciting activities for tourists who enjoy water sports, such as kayaking, rafting and hydrospeed, especially in places like the Mediano reservoir and the Congost de Mont-rebei.
What sets Huesca apart is its reputation as the European destination for canyoning. This adrenaline-pumping sport, cherished by both tourists and locals, invites participants to conquer canyons earning its status as a dream destination for adventure seekers.
While nominated for two awards, Huesca La Magia took home the award for “Europe’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination 2023” but did not receive the “Europe’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2023.”
