So far, Porto has won the “Europe’s Leading City Break Destination in 2023” award for the third time, previously taking home the honour in 2013 and 2020. Winning three times shows Porto is a top pick for European city breaks, making it a must-visit known for its culture and history.
Porto winning this award for the third time does not come as a coincidence. According to InvestPorto, the city’s investment promotion agency, the number of tourist guests in Porto reached a historic number of 3.7 million in 2019.
Moreover, in August of last year, SchengenVisaInfo.com reported that Porto ranked as Europe’s most affordable city for students. These data demonstrate Porto’s consistent commitment to attracting visitors and making it a great place to visit.
With Porto’s win for the third time, it is proven that the city is a must-visit for anyone looking for a fantastic European city break experience. This award is proof of the city’s strong appeal and attractions, famous for its rich culture and history.
Furthermore, in recent years, this prestigious award was claimed by Lisbon, Portugal, in 2022, and Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 2021.
