Mwinnabang Anita-Pearl Ankor, an artist and the CEO of Jagreh Customs, is thrilled to launch her newest endeavor, an adult coloring book, called “La Kome”.
“La Kome” which means “laugh for me” in the Dagara language, is an enchanting coloring book which is set to captivate individuals with its vibrant designs and creative allure.
In the past few years, mental health has been the main focus of Mwinnanbang and her creation “La Kome”, aims to be therapeutic for persons with mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.
On the inspiration for “La Kome”, Mwinnanbang said “Late 2022, I had a lot of things going on in my work life and personal life, this drove me into a depression and the only way I felt better was to channel the emotion in painting and creating.
I became very interested in art therapy and how it can help people with mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression cope. I looked into ways I could use my talent to help the mental health community and after extensive research, I decided to work on a coloring book, hopefully this will be the escape we all need”, she added.
To celebrate the release, Mwinnanbang will launch the “La Kome” coloring book at East Garden in East Legon on 26th November from 3:30pm – 11pm. There will be a red carpet, interactive art installations, photo booths, music, traditional dance performances from the Lobi and Dagara culture, DJ sets and much more.
3% of the proceeds from the book sale will be used to organize art therapy workshops in two randomly selected mental health institutions in Ghana.
The “La Kome” coloring book will be available for purchase on the official website.
