Vanessa Feltz has revealed the extent of her heartbreak following the breakdown of her relationship with fiancé Ben Ofoedu.
The radio presenter, 61, shared with Myleene Klass on her podcast how she had been coping with the split which happened in February, revealing that she has been distracting herself from the pain, Vanessa said: ‘I have been out every single night without exception for 129 nights’.
Vanessa Feltz has revealed the extent of her heartbreak following her split from Nigerian-born British singer-songwriter, Ben Ofoedu.
The British radio presenter, 61, shared with Myleene Klass on her podcast how she had been coping with the split, which happened in February.
Revealing that she has been distracting herself from the pain, Vanessa said: ‘I have been out every single night without exception for 129 nights’.
Speaking on the They Don’t Teach This At School podcast, Vanessa said: ‘You feel betrayed. You feel hurt. You feel sad and lonely and worried and panic-stricken and all those nasty things. But I just thought right, got to soldier on somehow.’
She previously revealed in June that she hadn’t spent the day alone in the 140 days since her split from the singer, her partner of 16 years, due to his cheating.
Vanessa went on: ‘It’s all extremely, it’s just so destabilising, it really is. And at the same time, it makes you completely revaluate yourself as a person.
The mother-of-two revealed that there were issues throughout her time with Ben, and not just at the end when he was unfaithful.
She said: ‘If you are someone who considers yourself to be quite bright, quite insightful, you just can’t help thinking, ‘How could I have thought that was a good relationship? How could I’ve chosen that person? Why did I choose that person?’
”What is it about me that’s lacking?’ and all your confidence pretty much evaporates at the time when you need it most.
‘And now I’m so old … who wants a broken heart at this stage of life. And it’s a terrible shock, and it knocks you back. And yet you’re aware that you have to be to some extent a cheerleader for everybody else, everywhere else.’
Vanessa shared that she has become somewhat of a role model for her fans.
‘I have had so many, honestly literally hundreds of thousands of messages … some of them saying, “my marriage has just ended, my relationship has just broken up, and I’ve just been betrayed, and I’m looking at you and your pictures and what you’re doing and I feel so inspired, because you seem to be building yourself back and up.”
‘And I feel like I kind of always have to carry on for the people who are looking at me and thinking I’m really sort of triumphing over it. But also part of me doesn’t want to mislead them into thinking it’s any easier than it is, because it isn’t really very easy. It’s pretty, pretty difficult.’
Speaking on the effect age has on break-ups, Vanessa said: ‘However old you are, the pain is just as vivid and just the same.
‘You don’t just think oh, I’m so much older, I don’t actually mind very much. Of course, you mind.
‘The heart doesn’t seem to age in that way. The emotions don’t change.’
Recently, Vanessa revealed that she has lost two stone since the split as she completely lost her appetite.
Vanessa and Ben first met in 2005 through a mutual friend, Keith, at OK!’s annual Christmas party and began their relationship the following year.
Vanessa was previously married to surgeon Michael Kruer, from 1983 to 2000, whom she also claimed she found cheating. The pair have two children, daughters, and four grandchildren.
