Citizens of Oman Warned to Enter the Schengen Visa-Issuing Country First

The Embassy of Oman in Berlin has warned all of its citizens that they need to enter the country that issued their Schengen visa first before travelling to any other destination in the bloc.

Such a warning from the embassy was made in order to ensure that all Omani citizens are aware of the rules and do not face any inconveniences when travelling to the Schengen Area.

“The embassy would like to point out that the European Union requires holders of a Schengen visa to make the issuing country as the first destination in order to use it,” the statement of the Embassy of Oman in Berlin reads.

In addition, the Embassy also explained the rights that Germany has when a foreigner is making their first entry into the country with a visa that has not been issued by the German authorities.

The Embassy stressed that if a citizen of Oman or of any other country that is subject to the visa requirements enters Germany as a first destination with a visa that has been issued by another Schengen country, the German authorities have the right to deny their entry.

In order to avoid this, the Embassy called on everyone to make their first entry to the country that issued their Schengen visa and then travel to the other Schengen countries.

Since Oman has not reached a visa-free travel agreement, all of its citizens are required to obtain a visa in order to be permitted entry into the Schengen Area.

Citizens of Oman applying for a Schengen visa are required to submit several documents.

They must submit the completed visa application form, their passport, and two photos that have been taken recently.

In addition, Schengen visa applicants must also submit a roundtrip itinerary, proof of having purchased travel health insurance, proof of sufficient financial means, proof of having secured accommodation, and proof of paid visa fee.

Applicants may be required to submit additional documents too. For example, those employed need to submit proof of employment as well as leave permission from their employer, among others.

As for students, they need to submit proof of enrollment and a no-objection letter from their school or university.
