Railway company Eurostar has made tickets available for travel from the United Kingdom to Brussels for those attending the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship in Germany.
The company has revealed that football fans from the UK are eligible to travel via trains to Euro 2024, just £49 to Brussels. After that, it’s an extra £39 for tickets to German cities from Brussels.
According to a report from the Mirror, Eurostar has released tickets for the football tournament in Germany, which is scheduled from June 14 to July 14, 2024. Those interested are eligible to book seats on the new Eurostar website for travel from London to Essen and Cologne.
Travel from London to Brussels takes under two hours on the Eurostar from London St Pancras; at the same time, passengers can reach Cologne in one hour 47 hours and Essen in two hours with Eurostar.
Through a statement, UEFA previously said that EURO 2024 will support the UN’s Football for the Goals initiative, which promotes a platform for the football community in order to support and also advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Sustainability has been a fundamental, cross-sectional topic defining UEFA EURO 2024 bidding, organisational set-up, and decision-making.
UEFA also emphasised previously that it wants EURO 2024 to be the greenest European Championship of all time while promoting train travel to Germany as the eco-friendly choice.
Eurostar is a greener option that helps reduce carbon footprints by a total of 90 per cent, in comparison to driving in some cases, and it’s notably more environmentally friendly than flying.
UEFA joined the campaign back in July 2022 when it started. According to the statement provided by UEFA, Football for the Goals uses the influence of the game in order to spread awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also aims to encourage positive changes as well as sustainable practices in the industry. The same aims to inspire the global fan base of the game.
All of our strategic actions are based on collaboration across all of the tournament’s ten host cities and a wide range of partners, in full alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. Through the UEFA Euro 2024, we want to set the right example towards sustainable change and inspire Football for the Goals members to follow.
Last month, it was announced that Eurostar services from the Netherlands to London will be suspended for a period of six months.
