Munich has secured the spot as the best German city for international students in 2024, with a score of 53.2, a new unique ranking has revealed.
According to a study conducted by Studying-in-Germay.org, the capital of Bavaria, which has 20 universities and is home to a total of 55,291 international students, is the safest city in Germany.
Other attributes such as the good quality of life and its healthcare system add to Munich’s allure and rank it as the best city in Germany for international students.
As the study reveals, Munich is the third German city with the highest quality of life score. Moreover, the city has one of the best healthcare systems, with a healthcare score of 76.78.
On the other hand, when it comes to the cost of living, Munich is on the pricier side. The city ranks the second most expensive German city in terms of living costs, with the students having to have a budget of at least €1,000 per month to cover their expenses.
While its high cost of living may be the only “drawback,” Munich has a lot more to offer to international students in addition to its academic excellence. Munich has a rich culture with many attractions awaiting to be explored.
Beyond academics, Munich offers a rich cultural scene with world-class attractions such as the Pinakothek Museums, the Bavarian State Opera, and the famous Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
Following Munich, Aachen and Cologne claim the second and third spots, respectively.
Aachen offers a high quality of life, a rich history, and affordability for all international students. The city is home to RWTH Aachen University and four other institutions. It also hosts a substantial number of 77,199 international students.
One of the most outstanding qualities of Aachen is its quality of life. The city ranks as the second most affordable German city for international students. Aachen is also more affordable compared to other larger student cities in the country.
As per Cologne, which hosts the same number of students as Aachen, 77,199, data show that the city offers a relatively affordable cost of living and has a very welcoming environment for international students.
Studying-in-Germany.org has included another seven German cities on its list.
