Denmark has extended the entry ban for a religious preacher who is part of the country’s sanction list and has added another individual to the list.
At the same time, after careful revision, Denmark has removed the entry ban for a religious preacher, now permitting him to enter the country and the Schengen Area, SchengenVisaInfo reports.
The entry ban to Denmark for the religious preacher already listed under the country’s sanctions has been extended for a period of two years until March 15, 2026. This religious preacher is a Turkish national.
A two-year entry ban will now also apply to the newly added religious preacher to the sanction list. The most recent religious preacher added to Denark’s list is a national of Pakistan, and he is now banned until March 15, 2026.
Denmark’s sanction list currently includes a total of 22 religious preachers. The list is continuously reviewed, and by making updates, Denmark aims to prevent anyone who seeks to undermine the Danish laws and values and support a parallel conception of the law from entering its territory.
These Rules Apply to Religious Preachers Part of Denmark’s Sanction List
As the Danish Immigration Service explains, a foreign individual who is listed on the sanction list is prohibited from travelling to or residing in Denmark or any other country part of the Schengen Area.
The entry ban for certain individuals remains effective as long as they are part of the list. Typically, the entry ban is imposed for two years, and according to the situation, it is extended for two-year intervals.
In case a foreign national enters Denmark despite being placed on the sanction list, the Danish Immigration Service highlighted that they could be subject to a fine or imprisonment for a period of up to three years.
If a foreign national on the sanction list enters Denmark anyhow, he/she can be punished by fine or imprisonment for a period of up to three years.
Sanctions could also be applied against religious preachers who have a chance of planning to enter Denmark.
The Danish authorities further emphasise that religious preachers could be added to the list regardless of whether they had made certain actions or statements abroad or during a previous stay in Denmark.
The Danish Immigration Service also highlighted that individuals who hold a Danish residence permit or fall under EU regulations cannot be placed on the sanction list.
