The four most popular Mediterranean destinations, France, Spain, Italy and Greece, have high levels of satisfaction when it comes to safety and climate, based on the recent analysis from the Mabrian.
In addition, the same source noted that tourist attractions in these destinations are satisfactory, stressing that in contrast to France and Spain, Italy and Greece stand out in this regard.
When it comes to hotel options, the Hellenic Republic is the most lauded territory among passengers, while France is considered less desirable. At the same time, Italy and Spain have similar levels of satisfaction.
“The main motivations for visiting Mediterranean destinations are quite similar. Cultural products, sea and beach-related activities, nature, and active tourism are among the main attractions. It is interesting to note that tourists in France and Spain enjoy a greater variety of family-friendly activities, whereas those in Greece and Italy appreciate the local gastronomy,” the report notes.
As for air connectivity, all the countries mentioned above have surged their capacity for this summer in comparison to the previous year. It notes that France and Italy have experienced an increase in the number of international flights, despite the fact that their domestic capacity is lower than last year.
As for Spain and Greece, both countries have surged in both international and domestic capacities.
The recent report of Mabrian has revealed that following the increased air capacity, Mediterranean destinations are actively competing to capture passengers’ attention from the United States. The four countries, France, Italy, Spain and Greece, are taking measures in order to surge air connectivity and thus attract this market which is among the most significant ones.
“This summer, travellers from the United States will have easier access to Mediterranean destinations with increased capacity and more direct routes. France and Italy, which already had good connectivity with North America last year, have further increased their numbers, with a 36 per cent and 45 per cent increase in seat capacity, respectively,” the report reads.
It says that they have also improved their connectivity with major European markets.
In the case of Spain and Greece, capacity on direct routes between the US and these territories has surged by 20 per cent. Despite the fact that the US is not placed among the top ten source markets for these destinations, there has been noted a significant increase in demand.
The report also revealed that regarding hotel prices in these destinations, there had been noted an upward trend in all these destinations and hotel categories, partly as a result of the opening of a large number of five-star hotels in recent years.
