Your Ultimate Handbook to Portuguese Beach Rules in 2023

Comprehensive Guide of Rules on Portuguese Beaches in 2023!

The miraculous beauty of Portuguese beaches is highly sought after among holidaymakers. The country has some lovely beaches, scheduled coves and golden beaches – just the right environment for visitors to enjoy the experience and feel themselves fully.

However, in efforts to offer a quiet and calming environment for all holidaymakers, the authorities have introduced several restrictions and measures to reduce any disturbance among holidaymakers that have picked Portuguese beaches for their vacations.

MonteOzLive.com unveils a comprehensive guide that includes all rules and regulations imposed on Portuguese this summer.

Portuguese Beaches in 2023: You Can Go Quiet or Get Fined

The use of sound equipment that maximises noise or other devices related to it can get holidaymakers in Portugal fined from €200 to €36,000, the authorities have recently announced.

The fine prices can depend on whether an individual is playing music or it is a business. Regardless, playing loud music at the beach can get visitors in trouble this year, so it is highly advisable to respect the serenity beach offers and not pollute these sites acoustically.

In addition, playing ball games at a random area that is not designated for such an activity is banned, the same as it is to camping outside campsites and going fishing in bathing areas.

Performing any activities or sports, such as surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing, outside designated areas is also banned. The authorities have also forbidden carrying out any actions that compromise the public use of beaches and activities that put at risk the safety or health of bathers or the biophysical site of the beach.

An overflight by aircraft with an engine below 1,000 feet, with the exception of those intended for surveillance and rescue operations and other aerial means of sport and recreation, outside the authorised crossing channels is also prohibited in Portuguese beaches.

Starting Fires & Collecting Shellfish Among Many Restricted Activities in Portugal This Year

It is forbidden to start a fire at Portuguese beaches this year, which can be a smart move to protect the environment. In addition, collecting plants and shellfish outside designated areas for this activity is strictly prohibited.

Street vending activities without prior permission aren’t allowed, as is advertising without permission, especially outside the designated areas.

Circulation and parking in forbidden areas aren’t permitted, which also applies to parking motor vehicles. Dogs and other pets are not permitted to be circulating outside specific areas as well as the deposit or abandonment of any waste, glass objects or blunt material outside the proper receptacles is highly prohibited on Portuguese beaches.
